Devotion #4-God revealed through trials “I believe with all my heart that it’s through the broken things that we are exposed to the greatness and the goodness of God.” Bekah Shae It’s funny how some of my most treasured memories with the Lord were in the middle of heartbreak. I sensed His presence. When I look back, I can see that He was with me even more clearly than I saw it at the time. It’s not heartbreak that makes us see God. It’s going to Him and surrendering to Him in the middle of heartbreak that makes you aware of His presence, His goodness, and His faithfulness. David wrote many of his scriptures praising God while he was on the run for his life. He knew to go to God and take refuge in Him during his hardships. These Psalms below are believed to have been written when Saul was trying to kill David, and David was on the run. But in that dark time David took refuge in the Lord, and his words lead us to believe he saw God’s faithfulness in some if his darkest hardships. Psalm 18:1-2 ” I love you, LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Psalm 63:1-8 “You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.”
