Rachel has begun writing a devotional…
Devotional #1:
If my day I spent doing nothing but saying “Jesus” it is a treasured day. I say “Jesus” when I need help. I say His name in awe of who He is. I say “Jesus” to light up the dark around me. I say “Jesus” to exalt His name. I say “Jesus” when I’m crying. And I exalt “Jesus” when I praise.
I am an ambitious person by nature. I naturally create goals for my life, the week, even the day. I have ambitions I want to fulfill in life. Most of them have not happened and may never happen due to my condition.
I often have simple goals or lists I want to fulfill for the day. Today I wanted to
1. Shower
2. Respond to someone on email
3. Enjoy the 70 degree weather outside
But then I started getting a migraine, which means my body will not cooperate with my goals. Also I’m experiencing a fast heart rate and low blood pressure when I stand. That can cause me to I pass out if I get out of bed. So I am in the dark, with my oxygen on. I took medicine, which is helping. My headache is now tolerable but I must stay in the dark to keep it that way.
So my goals for the day are out the window and I may have to spend all day here in my bed. I can either decide to give my goals to the Lord and surrender, and worship him with what I can do, even if it’s just worshipping Him in my heart, in bed, in the dark. Or I could watch my goals slowly fall away in anguish and frustration. One makes the heart weary, the other gives the heart peace.
Isaiah 26:3
“You will keep in perfect peace, those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.”
Philippians 2:9-10
“…God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.”
